LASIK and Refractive Eye Surgery Consultations
If you are considering laser vision correction, the first step will be a LASIK and refractive eye surgery consultation. The goal of this consultation is to determine if you are a good candidate for refractive eye surgery, as it is not right for everyone. At EyeQ Family Optical, we offer LASIK eye surgery consultations to help you determine the best choice for your eye health.
What Is Refractive Eye Surgery?
Refractive eye surgeries can include various procedures, but LASIK surgery is the most widely known. It is an option often selected by people who wish to eliminate the need for contact lenses or eyeglasses to see clearly.
LASIK surgery is a minimally invasive outpatient surgery. The surgery is performed using a computer-controlled laser and a small blade to reshape the cornea. This quick procedure typically involves minor side effects and minimal discomfort for the patient. LASIK eye surgery is most often used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Your Refractive Eye Surgery Consultation
A comprehensive eye exam at our eye care center in Spokane Valley is the first step to determining if LASIK or another vision correction procedure is right for you. Upon making your appointment, please mention your interest in laser eye surgery. Our staff will be sure to include a LASIK consultation at your exam.
Your comprehensive eye exam will include an assessment of your vision and overall eye health. We will also use this time to determine if vision correction surgery may be appropriate for you. To determine your candidacy, we will evaluate your current prescription as well as other factors such as any presence of eye disease and the thickness and shape of your cornea.
At EyeQ Family Optical, we’re happy to discuss the various refractive surgery options with you. We will also review the possible risks and benefits. During the pre-op consultation, additional measurements of your eyes will be taken to confirm you are a good candidate for the procedure. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and bring up your concerns. Our team will help you determine which procedure may be the best choice for your individual needs. If you are found to be a good candidate for laser eye correction, we will refer you to a qualified ophthalmologist where you can continue with treatment.
What Happens After LASIK Surgery?
We offer post-operative care for LASIK and refractive eye surgery at our Spokane Valley eye care center. Our post-operative care helps to monitor your recovery and address any issues that may arise in the days after surgery. We will observe any side effects and offer instructions on what to do and what to avoid doing to ensure a thorough recovery.
